It’s no secret that I absolutely love vintage jewelry. There is something incredibly special about the exquisite details of old-world heirloom pieces—the intricate settings, beautiful materials, and exceptional handcrafted quality that can be nearly impossible to reproduce today.But there are exceptions.Some modern jewelry designers still put extraordinary thought and craftsmanship into their pieces. Designers such as Le Vian and Effy create jewelry with the kind of beautiful details, rich materials, and distinctive designs that first made me fall in love with jewelry.That is why I’ve decided to introduce a new component to Only Gem Fans: Modern Jewelry.I’ll be adding carefully selected contemporary pieces that have the qualities I look for in vintage jewelry—beautiful gemstones, quality materials, interesting design, and those little details that make a piece feel special.One of my favorite examples is the Le Vian Blueberry Ombre Necklace. The graduated gemstones create a gorgeous ombré effect, with each stone carefully arranged along a white-gold chain finished with the Le Vian designer mark and an adjustable length.I loved the design so much that I took coordinating Le Vian pendants and transformed them into earrings. Together, the necklace and earrings make a beautiful set while still being striking enough to wear individually.To me, that is what modern jewelry should be: beautiful, feminine, distinctive, and effortless to wear.Sometimes you want an antique treasure with a hundred years of history behind it. And sometimes you want that contemporary piece that looks absolutely perfect with your favorite blouse, dress, or little black outfit.I want Only Gem Fans to offer you both.
